Montenegro, Budapest, Greece, and Portugal are the other European countries in which the hotel company has opted to open after June. The first hotel to open will be the Iberostar Cristina, located in Mallorca (Spain), and where both employees and managers will be able to test the new healthcare protocols before receiving the first customers, the chain explained in a statement.

Iberostar has increased health security in its establishments to stop the Covid-19 and has implemented more than 300 measures with the external collaboration of the SGS consultancy, which has also helped NH in reopening its hotels in Amsterdam and Madrid.

“The complicated thing is not to develop security protocols but to do it with a holistic vision, scientific rigor, and without taking a step back in caring for the ecosystem. We are proud of our measures, but we are proud that they have been implemented without giving up being a company free of single-use plastics, as far as the legislation allows us, deepening our circularity policies and using products that minimize the environmental impact ”, Sabina Fluxá CEO of the Iberostar Group has indicated.

In Mexico, the Spanish chain has 11 hotels in the Mexican Caribbean: seven in Riviera Maya, two in Cancun, one in Cozumel, and one in Riviera Nayarit. Iberostar is planning a new opening in Riviera Nayarit and plans to disembark in Los Cabos with two properties, as published by REPORTUR.mx
