Authorities are making progress in capturing the hitmen who murdered a woman and her 10-year-old son in the Los Héroes subdivision, Supermanzana 215 in Cancun.
Key Details from C5 Cameras
C5 cameras recorded crucial details of the attackers and their escape vehicle, allowing agents to trace their route before and after the crime. The criminals were traveling on a red and black dirt bike. The driver wore a blue shirt, dark pants, white tennis shoes, and a helmet, while his companion, who fired the gun, wore a black jacket, jeans, Nike tennis shoes, and a balaclava to cover his face. The images also revealed that they fled to an area with poor lighting, making it difficult to locate them immediately.
The hitmen intercepted the victim while she was driving a Chevrolet Aveo with her mother and two minor children. At the intersection of 20 de Noviembre and Chac-Mool avenues, they took advantage of the stop at the traffic light to shoot at the vehicle, killing the driver and the child in the passenger seat.
Ongoing Investigation
After committing the crime, the attackers escaped at full speed. Investigators are searching for possible shelters in neighborhoods where armed groups operate, reinforcing operations at strategic points in Cancun. The Investigative Police are looking for those responsible based on the clues provided by the cameras and witness testimonies, prioritizing areas identified as shelters for organized crime.
