Citizens demand the release of young Jahaziel Nehemías Cano Ramayo, accused of the crime of rape.
Habitants of the municipality of Ignacio Zaragoza have closed for a second time the federal highway Cancun to Merida, at the height of this population located 30 kilometers from Kantunilkin, to demand the release of young Jahaziel Nehemías Cano Ramayo, accused of the crime of rape by his ex partner Dayamanti Miranda Canche, who is included in file 2153/2024 for the rape that is in a plenary session with closing investigation complementary and problem that they claim derives from the custody of what both conceived during their relationship.
The blockade affects hundreds of drivers who have been trapped on both sides of the federal highway, forming a line of around four kilometers, which causes drivers to ask all travelers to take alternative routes to travel to Cancun or Merida Yucatan.
The prosecution had promised to conduct a transparent process for the defendant to present the evidence collected by his defense team to demonstrate his innocence, since the defendant has had custody of the minor since their separation in March. The relatives claimed that unexpectedly began circulating the photo of the minor in September, for the supposed crime of kidnapping, knowing that the mother of the minor was aware that he was staying with his grandparents in Ignacio Zaragoza.
The problem did not end there, a few days later Cano Ramayo was detained by the Playa del Carmen prosecutor’s office, which caused the first blockade, lasting around six hours until the municipality’s personnel arrived to carry out the commitment to hold a transparent hearing. After several weeks of waiting, the residents resumed their blockade to demand the release of young Jahaziel, demanding the presence of state authorities to address the families.
The mayor Idelfonsa Cúpul stated that they have communicated with security citizenry and informed that a representative from the state will be sent to listen to the demands of more than 100 residents who are stationed at the exit of the municipality of Ignacio Zaragoza towards Cancun.
The defense of Jahaziel Nehemías Cano Ramayo’s request is for the measure of PPJ (provisional preventive detention) to be changed to prison domicile, taking into account that the appeal presented by the defense was due to the binding process and not the provisional detention.
According to the data provided by the defense, there is a risk assessment conducted by the UMECAS unit, which showed a medium-risk level. Also, a family file was transferred in which it appears that the provisional custody of the minor was with the defendant. In addition, interviews were presented in the initial hearing where the mother of the defendant and his relatives testified that the defendant had lived in that home since always. Therefore, changing the PPJ measure to prison domicile with locator would be viable, as there would not even be a risk to the victim because she could not easily access him, given that the victim lives in Playa del Carmen and the defendant in Ignacio Zaragoza.
