‘Grace’ degrades to tropical depression in the Caribbean

“Grace” is weakened and due to its current condition, the phenomenon has been degraded to a tropical depression, and now it is located 2,100 kilometers east of Quintana Roo.

According to information from the National Meteorological Service, the now tropical depression is located in the east-southeast of the Dominican Republic, with sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour.

The phenomenon is moving towards the West, at the rate of 24 kilometers per hour. It is expected to remain a tropical depression in the coming days, returning to the condition of a tropical storm until it reaches the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, around 1:00 p.m. on August 19. 

Grace is expected to leave 3 to 6 inches of water in the Leeward Islands, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico through Tuesday.

At the moment, due to its remoteness, it does not represent a danger to Quintana Roo, although vigilance is maintained.
