Motorists seeking the benefit of the full subsidy on their vehicle registration fees in Quintana Roo are facing the closing of the official deadline. The state government is still offering the opportunity to obtain this service 100% free of charge through license plate exchange, but time is running out, and the process will increase in real terms in just a few days.

The tax benefit for car owners in the state ends on March 31. Starting April 1, the cost of vehicle registration fees in Quintana Roo will no longer be subsidized, and users will have to pay the full amount.

Authorities from the Quintana Roo Tax Administration System (SATQ) confirm that administrative surcharges will also be added after the expiration date. The administrative process requires immediate attention to avoid these extra charges that directly impact taxpayers’ finances.

A fundamental change will occur in April with the mandatory registration of the State Taxpayer Registry (REC). Those who do not complete their registration before that date will face an additional obstacle, as this document will be an essential requirement for legal vehicle registration.

The cost of the 2026 license plate replacement in Quintana Roo depends exclusively on the type of vehicle registered with the state registry. Currently, the official fees for taxpayers are:

1,584 pesos for cars.

733 pesos for trailers.

528 pesos for motorcycles.

147 pesos for the Vehicle Registration Card.

To expedite the process, the Quintana Roo Tax Administration Service (SATQ) has launched the official vehicle control portal and a hotline for questions about requirements. The main objective is for citizens to take advantage of the registration centers in all 11 municipalities before the license plate replacement program loses its current incentives.
