Deadly Highway Ambush: Six Suspects Arrested in Quintana Roo Murder

91

A deadly highway ambush shocked the community this morning when a motorist was brutally murdered on Highway 307 near Xcalacoco. The victim’s yellow Camaro was intercepted by armed men in a low-rise pickup truck, who opened fire and left the driver dead.

According to authorities, six suspects were arrested by Citizen Security officers and Playa del Carmen police officers after attempting to flee the scene in a white van labeled with the name of a local laundromat. The detainees include five men and one woman, who are now being held for their probable involvement in the crime of aggravated homicide.

The State Attorney General’s Office identified the suspects as José Guadalupe “N”, Luis Alfonso “N”, Ángel “N”, Cristopher “N”, Ángel Eduardo “N”, and Consuelo “N”. During the arrest, three handguns were seized from the detainees.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the six individuals are members of a criminal group responsible for generating violence in Playa del Carmen. The group is also believed to be involved in drug trafficking and distribution in the area.

Moreover, authorities have linked the suspects to another homicide that occurred on April 4 this year inside a bar in Playa del Carmen. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be filed against the detainees.

This tragic incident highlights the growing concern for public safety in Quintana Roo. As authorities continue to investigate and crack down on crime, residents are left wondering how such violence can occur on a busy highway.

The case serves as a reminder that the Mexican government must take decisive action to address the root causes of violence and restore order in the state. In the meantime, citizens are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
