Meliá has announced the temporary closure of its Paradisus Cancún hotel starting June 1, 2025, to undertake an ambitious renovation project aimed at enhancing the guest experience.

The renovation involves transforming the five pyramids, respecting the hotel’s iconic architecture and the surrounding nature. Additionally, they will create more luxurious and sustainable spaces to satisfy the most demanding guests.

“We are confident that the new Paradisus Cancún will be a spectacular property,” the hotel chain stated in a press release. They also mentioned that their team will be available to relocate existing reservations and offer alternatives within Meliá Hotels International.

As reported by REPORTUR.mx, in May, Meliá’s CEO, Gabriel Escarrer, mentioned at the Shareholders’ Meeting the opening of new high-potential markets such as Albania, Malta, or Saudi Arabia and that the group’s hotel portfolio in Mexico would double by 2025. (Meliá aims to double the number of hotels in Mexico by 2025).

Currently, the Spanish hotel chain has ten hotels in Mexico: two in Cancún, one in Cozumel, two in Los Cabos, two in Playa del Carmen, one in Puerto Vallarta, and two in Riviera Maya.
