It is anticipated that there will be up to a 3.5% increase in the spending by visitors on vacation.
With an average occupancy of up to 70% in the reservation books, Cancun has positioned itself as the favorite destination for United States tourists during the summer.
Joana del Toro, deputy director of Allianz Travel, announced that in the top 10 trips that Americans will make, two destinations in Mexico were placed: Cancun in first place and Los Cabos in Baja California in second. It is expected that there will be up to a 3.5% increase in vacation spending, which would be an average of two thousand eight hundred forty-three dollars per household.
“Given the growing interest in traveling, a boost in the economic spill-over throughout the entire tourism value chain in the destinations is to be expected. It is noteworthy that Mexico is the only country that has more than one city on the list of preferred sites by Americans. This Mexican leadership demonstrates the attractive, diverse, and competitive tourist offer in the country,” she explained.
According to the report, there are about six million travel itineraries for the upcoming summer of Americans, and a large part will be choosing Cancun.
The Hotel Association of Cancun, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres already report an occupancy of 65% and 70% in the reservation books for the season, which is positive, and they hope that by summer they can have full occupancy, with tourism from the United States and Canada.
It is anticipated that the trips will have an average duration of between five and eight days, as part of the increase in vacationers that is estimated. Allianz Travel estimates that there will be a growth of 15%, compared to the previous year’s season, in the neighboring country’s market.
Puerto Vallarta is in the seventh place of preferences; however, other cities that are on this list include, London, Punta Cana, Montego Bay, Paris, and Nassau.
