The plaza is located on the edge of the Tulum-Playa del Carmen federal highway, in the south-to-north direction.
This grim discovery occurred last night at the busy plaza and brings the total number of executions in the municipality of Tulum to 60 during this year.
The macabre finding was made by a person walking in the area, who immediately alerted local authorities. Police officers and investigators from the State Attorney General’s Office responded to the call to initiate relevant investigations and conduct the body’s removal.
The victim’s identity has not yet been revealed. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities confirmed that alongside the wrapped body, there was a banner with a threatening message directed at the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Captain of the Navy, Pedro Enrique Jaramillo Visozo. He was appointed by the Tulum City Council on February 19.
The banner accused the official of providing protection to a criminal group. This incident adds to a series of violent events that have shaken Tulum in recent months.”
