Quintana Roo continues to consolidate itself as one of the favorite tourist destinations in Mexico, registering more than 300,000 national and foreign visitors during the third week of February.
That lodging figure had not been seen since before the Covid-19 pandemic.
In January, the Riviera Maya was positioned as the main option for rest and recreation among all Mexican beach destinations.
The spots with the highest preference are Isla Mujeres with 61 percent, Cancun and Puerto Morelos with 58.3 percent, and Cozumel with 57.9 percent.
In that month, a daily hotel occupancy of 62.9 percent was recorded. And it is that the Riviera Maya not only has beaches, culture, and archaeological sites but also 5-star hotels and state-of-the-art facilities.
An example of this is La Casa de la Playa, Xcaret Arte, by Grupo Xcaret or RIU and Barceló.
Visitors from the United States increase
The Ministry of Tourism reported that during 2021 tourists from the United States who registered entry through the Cancun International Airport accounted for 4.6 million, that is, 700 thousand more than before the pandemic.
Spain also has a predilection for Quintana Roo, as could be seen at the recent International Tourism Fair (FITUR), which attended 891 appointments and more than 500 general business consultations.
Quintana Roo estimates a hotel occupancy of 54.3 percent annual average, which means 12.9 percent more than in 2021.
The Mexican Caribbean can be visited at any time of the year and its growth in the reception of tourists is projected at 146.8 billion US dollars, 12.3 percent more than the previous year.
